Fleas

What They Are

Fleas are tiny, fast-moving parasites that commonly affect pets — but they can also become a problem inside Louisiana homes. Because of our warm, humid climate, fleas can stay active most of the year. They live by feeding on the blood of animals (and sometimes humans), and once they get established, they multiply quickly.

Where You’ll See Them

Fleas are often first noticed on pets, pet bedding, carpeted areas, furniture, or rugs. You may also see them in shaded areas of the yard, especially where pets rest or wildlife travels.

Why They’re a Problem

Fleas can cause itching, irritation, and skin discomfort for pets and people. They reproduce rapidly — meaning a few fleas can turn into a full-blown infestation in a short period of time. Vacuuming and store-bought treatments may reduce activity temporarily but often don’t eliminate eggs and larvae hiding in carpets and cracks.

How They Get Inside

Fleas commonly hitch a ride indoors on pets, but they can also enter on clothing, shoes, or wildlife passing through the yard. In Louisiana, year-round warm weather means flea populations can stay active longer than in other parts of the country.

How We Help

Our general pest control service is designed to help reduce flea populations inside and around your home. We focus on treatment areas where fleas live and develop — while also recommending steps to coordinate with pet care so the problem doesn’t return.
