Wasps
What They Are
Wasps are common stinging insects in Louisiana, especially during warmer months. The most frequent types homeowners see are paper wasps and yellowjackets. Wasps build nests in sheltered outdoor areas and can become aggressive if they feel their nest is threatened — which makes them a concern around homes, porches, and play areas.
Where You’ll See Them
Wasps often build nests under roof eaves, porch ceilings, patios, sheds, garages, playground equipment, shrubs, and other protected outdoor spots. You may also see them hovering around trash cans, outdoor cooking areas, or flowering plants.
Why They’re a Problem
While wasps help control insects outdoors, their stings are painful and may cause allergic reactions in some people. Nests located close to entryways, doors, or high-traffic areas increase the chance of accidental contact — especially for kids and pets.
How They Get Established
Queens begin new nests in spring, which grow throughout the summer. Louisiana’s climate allows nests to expand quickly, with dozens or even hundreds of wasps by peak season.
How We Help
Our pest control service safely treats wasp nests in and around your home and helps reduce ongoing activity in high-traffic areas. We’ll identify nest locations, remove or treat active nests, and offer recommendations to help prevent new colonies from forming.
